A violinist of many rooms

Madalyn Parnas Möller is Principal Second Violin of the Pacific Symphony, where she holds the Elizabeth and John Stahr Chair — a position she won in the spring of 2024 — and serves on the violin faculty of the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at California State University, Long Beach. In winter 2026 she joined UCLA's Herb Alpert School of Music as sabbatical replacement in violin, teaching the studio of her former professor, Movses Pogossian. She appears as guest concertmaster for Long Beach Opera, Pacific Opera Project, and the Riverside Lyric Opera, and records for film and television on Los Angeles scoring stages — including the forthcoming Behemoth and Judgement Day.

Since her solo debut at twelve with the Kabalevsky Concerto, she has toured France with L'Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, appeared with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Albany Symphony, and given recitals at the Kennedy Center, San Francisco Performances, and Shriver Hall. She has presented multiple world premieres, including Sven-David Sandström's violin concerto Force and Beauty. Her solo album of Latin American violin sonatas — works of Williams, Soro, and Uribe Holguín — appeared on Acqua Records with worldwide Naxos distribution.

A passionate chamber musician, she is one half of Duo Parnas with her sister, cellist Cicely Parnas — First Prize winners at Carnegie Hall's International Chamber Music Competition, with three albums for Sheffield Lab championing new works by Bolcom, Wuorinen, Moravec, and Auerbach. Recent seasons brought Thomas Adès's Alchymia performed with the composer in attendance, and a new ensemble: the Parnas Möller String Trio, with violist Jonah Sirota and cellist Juliette Herlin.

She holds a Doctorate of Music from UCLA, a Master of Music and Artist Diploma from Indiana University's Jacobs School, and a Master of Arts from London's Royal Academy of Music, where she studied as a 2012 Marshall Scholar. Her principal teachers include her grandfather, the legendary cellist Leslie Parnas, along with Movses Pogossian, Mark Kaplan, György Pauk, and Jaime Laredo.
